WINGNUTS STREAK HITS SIX
With the game tied at six entering the ninth, Martin Medina came through with the go-ahead single to send the Wichita Wingnuts to a 7-6 win over the Texas AirHogs at Potter County Memorial Stadium last night. After Medina's single, Frankie Reed came on in the ninth to close it out and earn his third save. Wichita jumped out to an early lead, plating the game's first run two batters in on an RBI double by Christian Stringer. The visitors doubled their lead in the fourth, as Brennen Salgado added a run-producing two-bagger of his own. The Wingnuts then made it 6-0 with a four-run fifth. Brent Clevlen singled in a run to get the inning started, Dustin Geiger added a two-run single, and Richard Prigatano capped the frame with an RBI single of his own. Leading 6-0, Wichita seemed to be in firm control until a Burt Reynolds two-run shot in the fifth started the AirHogs comeback. Texas pulled one back in the sixth and drew within one in the seventh, with a double play induced by Fabian Roman keeping the Wingnuts in front, until the next inning when the AirHogs drew even.
REED'S LIGHTS OUT TRIP
Wingnuts reliever Frankie Reed has been dominant so far on the current road trip. The San Diego, Calif., native has appeared in four of the six games on this trip for Wichita, collecting one win and one save without allowing a run. In his four outings on the trip, Reed has worked a total of seven scoreless innings, yielding four hits while striking out six and not allowing a walk. The four scoreless outings on this trip has extended Reed's streak of scoreless appearances to nine a row, as the southpaw has not allowed a run since his first outing of the year on May 20 against Lincoln.
