
X's Drop Season Finale to Saints 5-3

St. Paul, MN...The Sioux City Explorers closed out the 2009 season with a 5-3 loss to St. Paul Sunday at Midway Stadium.
The contest would have no playoff implications as Lincoln won earlier Sunday to eliminate the Saints from the North division playoffs.
The Saints scored two runs in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead on a two-run single by Josh Allen.
The Explorers would tie the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning on a two-run single by Dustin Jones. Jones led the Explorers with two hits including a double in the third inning.
St. Paul took the lead 4-3 in the sixth inning on a two-out single by Alex Fonseca. The Saints added an insurance run in the seventh inning on a two-out single by Jeff Eure.
Trevor Fox pitched seven innings for the Explorers, but took the loss while St. Paul starter Tom Buske picked up the win for the Saints.
The Explorers finished the season with an overall record of 40-56.
