Winnipeg-----Eddie Delacruz hit Wes Long with the bases loaded in the tenth inning as the Explorers lost to Winnipeg 3-2 Tuesday at Shaw Park.

After back-to-back singles in the tenth inning, the Explorers intentionally walked Kody Kaiser, a lefthanded batter, to face the righthander Long with the bases loaded and one out. However, on the third pitch Delacruz hit Long to force in the winning run for the Goldeyes.

The Explorers trailed 1-0 going into the eighth inning when T.J. Bohn led off with a double, his third hit of the game. A sacrifice bunt by Ryan Priddy and a throwing error by Isaac Hess, the Winnipeg pitcher, scored Bohn from second base and allowed Priddy to take second. Brian Bistange then moved Priddy to third base with one out. Dustin Jones then singled sharply to centerfield that scored Priddy to give the Explorers a 2-1 lead. The hit by Jones extended his hitting streak to nine games. Winnipeg came back to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning on an opposite field home run to left by Kody Kaiser. Both teams failed to score in the ninth to set up the bottom of the tenth inning when the winning run scored for Winnipeg.

The second game of the three-game series will be played Wednesday starting at 7:05pm.
