Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

EL PASO, Texas -- For the fourth straight series, the Grand Prairie AirHogs were beaten in the first game of a series, as they were defeated 17-8 by the El Paso Diablos at Cohen Stadium on Tuesday.

Diablos starter Alex Kaminsky (3-1) gave up five runs in the first three innings, but one in his last three, as the El Paso offense peppered Josh Rainwater (10-3) for 15 hits and 12 runs (nine earned) to go on top. The onslaught began with three runs in the second, and although Greg Porter's two-run double restored the AirHogs' lead, it was short-lived.

El Paso (18-44) got three hits and a critical error in the third to score three more and go up for good, getting one more in the fourth before Grand Prairie (41-20) answered with one in the fifth to close to within 7-6. But that was as close as the AirHogs would get the rest of the way, with the Diablos chasing Rainwater during a five-run fifth inning.

The AirHogs got one run in the seventh and one in the ninth but they were answered by two Diablos runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to finish the scoring, as Grand Prairie managed only one run against the El Paso bullpen.

Notes: All 10 Diablos hitters reached base safely at least once, nine got at least one hit, seven got at least two hits, nine scored at least a run and seven drove in at least two runs...Eight of the AirHogs had at least one hit...Diablos bench coach Gerardo Verastegui was ejected by home plate umpire Lance Vaughn in the top of the fifth for arguing balls and strikes from the dugout...After starting the year 4-0, the AirHogs have lost their last three games after off days.
