THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia starter Austin Coley worked his way through six innings and surrendered three runs but the Power fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers 6-2 on Tuesday night at Appalachian Power Park. Coley surrendered a pair of runs in the fourth inning after a wild pitch and a solo home run by KJ Woods. Coley's control also cost him a run in the fifth when his second wild pitch of the evening allowed another to come across. Offensively, the Power scored a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Luplow and in the ninth on a Taylor Gushue sac fly. In the ninth inning, the Power loaded the bases and brought the tying run to the plate, but the rally fell short as the offense finished 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.
HOP TO IT: The Power and Grasshoppers conclude their three-game series today. Despite the setback, West Virginia leads the all-time series 74-70. The two teams will meet 17 times this year.
BREWED TO PERFECTION: Colten Brewer put up the best start of his career in Monday's victory, striking out 11 batters over six shutout innings to earn his first win of the year. The right hander surrendered the only two hits in the game the Grasshoppers tallied. Previously, Brewer's career-high for strikeouts in a game was four which he has done multiple times in his career.
SELFLESSNESS: Sacrifice bunts have been a key part of West Virginia's offense through the first 52 games of the season. The Power have laid down 38 total sacrifice bunts this season, the most in professional baseball. The 2015 Power are on pace to register 102 sacrifice bunts this year. In each of the last three seasons, the Power laid down 47 sacrifice bunts through both halves. The 38 sac bunts are also the most in the Pirates minor league system. Pablo Reyes leads the team with seven sacrifice bunts while Cole Tucker and Tito Polo each have six.
FOR THE WIN: West Virginia finished the most recent road trip with a 5-2 mark, their best in a single road trip this year. The team split the first trip 3-3, went 2-4 on the second, and split the third 4-4. During the most recent road trip, the offense hit .283 with three home runs while the pitching staff continued to produce well with a 3.12 ERA. The Power will hit the road to Rome, Georgia following today's game.

The outfielder is currently hitting .292 this year after a 1-for-2 game on Tuesday night. During May, Escobar hit .296, the best mark among any qualifying Power hitter during the month.
HOT, HOT, HOT: In the last ten games, West Virginia holds an 7-3 record which is the best in the South Atlantic League. In the last ten games, the club has a team .256 average whille the pitching staff holds a 2.99 ERA.
