Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Catcher Collin Slaybaugh went a career-high 4-for-4 with two runs scored, and was one of three new Charleston RiverDogs to make an impact in the 6-3 win over the Augusta GreenJackets in the finale of a three-game series, Wednesday night at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
Charleston was held scoreless over the first two innings, but exploded for three runs in the third. Ryan Lindemuth began the frame with a leadoff walk. Slaybaugh got a hit in his first at-bat as a member of the RiverDogs (26-27), and it was the first of six consecutive singles for Charleston. Jorge Mateo and Angel Aguilar followed with RBI singles to give the R'Dogs a 2-0 lead.
Aguilar swiped second and Mateo slid in safely at home on a double-steal attempt, increasing the lead to 3-0, which sent the crowd of 3,179 into a frenzy. Bo Thompson, a Mauldin, S.C., native and standout at The Citadel, drove in another run on his first hit as a RiverDog to cap off the four-run frame.
The GreenJackets (25-27) struck back with three runs in the top of the fourth. Andrew Cain picked up his fourth RBI of the series with a single and Will Callaway drove in two more on a double to left field.
After Callaway's double, Caleb Frare replaced the starting pitcher Matt Wotherspoon, who made his SAL debut, and got the final two outs of the inning. The RiverDogs added a run of insurance in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Austin Aune to bring home Aguilar. Mateo drove in his second run of the game in the eighth on a base hit off the glove of the first baseman John Riley.
Charleston took their 6-3 lead into the ninth inning, and Dillon McNamara locked down the victory to earn his third save of the season. Caleb Frare (3-1) pitched a season-high 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. Donald Snelten (0-1) lost his first start with the GreenJackets after going 0-5 in eight starts with San Jose. The RiverDogs won all three of their first-half series against Augusta.

BALLPARK FUN: It was Senior Wednesday at The Joe, and seniors in attendance received a food voucher for a complimentary meal. The RiverDogs also promoted awareness for strokes by educating the crowd about one of the leading health risks to seniors. Before the ninth inning, there was a mascot dance party on top of the dugout. The season's FOURTH marriage proposal at The Joe was another successful one as she again said YES! Many characters joined in the party and fans were thrilled to see many of their favorite mascots showing off their dance moves. One fan in a peach colored shirt up the first-base line made a great two-handed catch on a foul ball to cap off the night.
