A two-out error opened the gates for a six-run eighth inning, and the Lexington Legends went on to a 6-2 win over the Rome Braves Wednesday afternoon in Rome. The inning featured back-to-back two-run doubles by Samir Duenez and Luis Villegas.

The Braves had scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to break up a scoreless game. Ozze Albies drew a leadoff walk and moved to second base on a sacrifice by Joseph Daris. Omar Obregon was hit by a pitch, and after Wigberto Nevarez flied out, Braxton Davidson doubled to right field, scoring Albies and Obregon.

In the top of the eighth, Logan Davis led off with a walk, but two forceouts at second base followed, leaving Alfredo Escalera at first base. The inning was kept alive when Nevarez, the first baseman, mishandled a ball hit by Michael Hill. Elier Hernandez singled to right field, scoring Escalera and sending Hill to third. Wander Franco's single brought home the tying run as Hernandez moved to second. After Chase Vallot walked, Kyle Kinman was brought on to relieve Dustin Emmons for Rome. Duenez broke the 2-2 tie with a double to right field, scoring Hernandez and Franco, and Villegas followed with a double to left, scoring Vallot and Duenez to give the Legends their final margin.

Pedro Fernandez (4-0) worked the seventh and eighth innings and got the win. Emmons (0-4) took the loss. Legends starter Zach Lovvorn worked six scoreless innings. He allowed six hits, walked two batters and struck out three. Rome starter Caleb Beech shut out the Legends on three hits through six and one-third innings.

The Legends won two games out of three in Rome, and will move on to Augusta to open a four-game series against the GreenJackets on Thursday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
