THE LEAD OFF: A stellar pitching performance by Colten Brewer and John Sever resulted in a 4-0 victory for the Power over the Grasshoppers on Monday night in Charleston. Brewer notched a career-high 11 strikeouts while fanning at least one in every inning. In relief of Brewer, Sever walked the first batter he faced but proceeded to strike out seven of the next nine batters. Offensively, the Power scored a run in the first on a Michael Suchy sac fly, then took a 2-0 lead on Chase Simpson's fifth home run of the year. In the fifth, the Power plated two when Suchy hit an RBI double and later scored in the inning on an Elvis Escobar RBI single. The 18 team strikeouts by West Virginia was the most in a nine-inning game in franchise history.

HOP TO IT: The Power and Grasshoppers continue their three-game series tonight. Despite having the worst record in the entire league, Greensboro took three out of four games against West Virginia when the two teams met at the start of May. Despite the setback, West Virginia leads the all-time series 74-70. The two teams will meet 17 times this year.

BREWED TO PERFECTION: Colten Brewer put up the best start of his career in Monday's victory, striking out 11 batters over six shutout innings to earn his first win of the year. The right hander surrendered the only two hits in the game the Grasshoppers tallied. Previously, Brewer's career-high for strikeouts in a game was four which he has done multiple times in his career.

FOR THE WIN: West Virginia finished the most recent road trip with a 5-2 mark, their best in a single road trip this year. The team split the first trip 3-3, went 2-4 on the second, and split the third 4-4. During the most recent road trip, the offense hit .283 with three home runs while the pitching staff continued to produce well with a 3.12 ERA.

NEW LEADER: After a three-hit day on Saturday, Elvis Escobar took over Chase Simpson's title as the teams best hitter for average. The outfielder is currently hitting .290 this year after adding two hits in Monday's win. During May, Escobar hit .296, the best mark among any qualifying Power hitter during the month.

MONEYBALL: Two players on the Power are currently riding on-base streaks of at least ten games. Leading the charge is Tyler Filliben who has been on in 16 straight while West Virginia's leading hitter Elvis Escobar reached safely in 12 straight for the second-time this season. If Chase Simpson reaches base in his next game played, he will join the duo with a double-digit on-base streak. As a team, the Power have a league-best .338 OBP.

HOT, HOT, HOT: In the last ten games, West Virginia holds an 8-2 record which is the best in the South Atlantic League. In the last ten games, the club has a team .265 average while the pitching staff holds a 2.52 ERA. Five of the last ten games have been decided by two runs or less.

POWER PROMO UPDATE- JUNE 13: The Power will be celebrating Chuck's Birthday with a headphone giveaway to the first 1,000 fans presented by 98.7 The Beat and Renaissance Dental. Additionally, the popular national act Zooperstars will entertain the fans throughout the 7:05 p.m. game against Augusta.

POWER POINTS: The Power are 17-7 when playing at home this season...Monday's two-hitter was the second time the Power pitchers have thrown a two-hitter this year (May 18 in Hickory)...Andy Otamendi was transferred to Extended Spring Training on Friday to clear a roster spot for Jeff Roy. Otamendi was promoted from Extended Sprint Training on Thursday, but did not appear in a game during his 19 hour stint on the active Power roster...Jerrick Suiter's 17-game on-base streak ended on Monday night...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh came from behind to defeat San Francisco 4-3. Gerrit Cole struck out nine over seven innings to earn another win...Indianapolis lost to Buffalo 12-3...Altoona had an off day on Monday and return to action tonight against the New Britain Rock Cats...Bradenton lost to Jupiter 2-1 in extras. Luis Heredia went four innings in his start.

ON THE AIR: West Virginia Power games can be heard on Charleston's ESPN 104.5 FM and 1490 AM in Charleston, online at wvpower.com and on the TuneIn Radio App. Adam Marco will call the action once again and will be joined by Mike Baggerman when the team plays at Appalachian Power Park.
