Stockton Thunder News Release

LAS VEGAS - Peter Ferraro scored a goal and had two assists as the Las Vegas Wranglers won their 15th consecutive regular season game, sending the Stockton Thunder (0-2-0, 0 points) to a 4-1 loss at Orleans Arena on Sunday night.

Las Vegas' aggressive forechecking put the Thunder in a 2-1 hole through one period, outshooting the Thunder at an 18-9 margin. Defenseman Brad Farynuk gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal just 1:50 into the game, blasting a one-timer from the high slot past Wranglers netminder John Curry.

Just 16 seconds later, Las Vegas tied the game at 1-1, when an errant bounce in front of the Thunder net deflected into the cage off the leg of goaltender Glenn Fisher, with the goal credited to Las Vegas' Shawn Limpright. Former NHL forward Peter Ferraro put Las Vegas up 2-1 with 3:30 left in the first, converting on a tap-in rebound after Fisher stopped a one-timer from Ryan Donnally.

The Wranglers outshot the Thunder 11-5 in the second period and hiked the lead to 3-1 on Chris Ferraro's first goal of the year from the right circle, burying a rebound under the crossbar after Fisher stopped a point-blank shot from Peter Ferraro in the slot.

The Thunder mounted a comeback in the third period by outshooting Las Vegas at a 10-4 margin, but Adam Cracknell wrapped up the game with his first goal of the season at the 18:20 mark, taking advantage of a screen set on Fisher and whipping home a wrist shot from the left circle.

Fisher made 29 saves in his professional debut, including 16 in the first period. Curry stopped 23 Thunder shots, as Chris Ferraro added a game-high +4 rating along with a goal and an assist. The Thunder went 1-for-7 on the power-play, while blanking Las Vegas on all six man-advantage opportunities.

The Thunder continues its season-opening four-game road trip with a rematch against the Las Vegas Wranglers on Tuesday, starting at 7:05 p.m. from Orleans Arena. The Thunder faces the Alaska Aces on Saturday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. PT in the home opener at Stockton Arena.
