Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Brett Peterson has been called up to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League, and that goaltender Tyler Plante has been re-assigned to the roster by the Florida Panthers.

Peterson heads to Albany after opening the season with the Everblades. Peterson, who turned 26 yesterday, skated in both games for the Everblades this past weekend and registered four penalty minutes. The call-up to the AHL is the first in Peterson's career. Last season the Northborough, Massachusetts native scored 22 points in 68 regular season games with the Everblades, and added two points in 16 Kelly Cup Playoff games. Peterson began his professional career in 2004-05 after wrapping up a four-year collegiate career at Boston College, where he helped the Eagles to a NCAA Championship in 2001.

Plante makes his return to the Everblades after making his professional debut on Saturday with the Rochester Americans. The 20-year-old stopped 39 of 42 shots in his debut, but suffered the loss in a 3-1 loss at Hershey. The former 2nd round draft pick by the Panthers in 2004 spent the past four seasons at the junior level playing in the Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
