Checkers partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers are pleased to announce their partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, Checkers players and front office staff will gear up for the Team Sorting Day at the Charlotte distribution warehouse to help sort food. Fans are asked to donate non-perishable food items during the Friday, Nov. 30 game against the Columbia Inferno. Checkers fans that participate in the program will be given a discount coupon for a future Checkers game. On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Checkers are holding a Scout Night food drive benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina when they battle the Florida Everblades. Fans will have another chance to get a discount coupon for a future Checkers game by bringing non-perishable food items to the arena.

"Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is thrilled to be partnering with the Charlotte Checkers this season. We encourage all of our sponsors to attend Checkers games to support our upcoming food drives with them and also to also cheer on our favorite hockey team -the Charlotte Checkers," said community development marketing of public relations and events, Donna Regan.

The Checkers are in their15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next game takes place on Oct. 23 against the Augusta Lynx. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
