
Wranglers Flop In Third To Victoria, 5-3

Victoria, BC - The Las Vegas Wranglers (16-15-4, 36 Points) were defeated by the Victoria Salmon Kings (20-15-3, 43 Points) 5-3 in front of 4,221 fans Tuesday night at the Save On Food Memorial Centre. Victoria forward Olivier Latendresse tallied the game-winning goal with 3:43 remaining in regulation. Defenseman Brandan Roach tallied twice, and forwards Olivier Filion and Andy Brandt also scored for the Salmon Kings. Salmon Kings goalie David Shantz made 31 saves to improve to 14-4-3 this season. Forwards Adam Miller and Greg Collins, and defenseman Mike Madill tallied for the Wranglers. Wranglers goalie Michael Ouzas stopped 26 of 31 shots in the loss. The Wranglers will stay in Victoria to take on the Salmon Kings on Wednesday, January 13th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre.
Victoria opened the scoring with a tally from defenseman Brandon Roach, 5:13 into the first period. Forward Andy Brandt found Roach who blasted in his third goal of the season from the top of the right circle for the 1-0 Salmon Kings lead. Las Vegas tied the game with a breakaway goal from center Adam Miller at 13:59 of the opening frame. Wingers Ned Lukacevic and Jeff Hazelwood sprung Miller for his tenth goal on the season to tie the game at 1-1. The Salmon Kings regained the lead at 18:14 with a tally from forward Olivier Filion. Forward Olivier Latendresse set up Filion's sixth goal on the season for the 2-1 Victoria lead.
In the second period, the Wranglers would pull even with a power-play goal from defenseman Mike Madill at 3:24. Forwards Alex Bourret and Andrew Orpik set up Madill's second goal on the year to tie the game at 2-2. The Wranglers took their first lead of the game at 10:51 of the second period. Collins snapped in a loose puck for his second goal of the season, and the 3-2 Las Vegas lead.
The Salmon Kings tallied three unanswered goals in the third period en route to the 5-3 win over Las Vegas. Victoria pulled even at 5:56 with a goal from Brandt. Brandt had the puck go off his skate for his 11th goal on the season to tie the game at 1-1. Victoria regained the lead with a tally from Latendresse at 16:17. Latendresse fired in his 14th goal on the season and the 4-3 Victoria lead.
