Wranglers earn 50th win, move into first place

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers posted a perfect 3-0-0 record for the week starting with a 6-1 win Tuesday night over Alaska. Friday night, the Wranglers defeated Bakersfield 5-2 at the Orleans Arena. Saturday night, the Wranglers bounced Utah with a 3-1 win over the Grizzlies.

This Tuesday, Las Vegas will host Stockton at 7:05 pm. The San Diego Gulls visit Las Vegas Friday at 7:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans on March 31st receive a Wranglers team card set.

Alaska 1 at Las Vegas 6

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Alaska Aces 6-1 on Tuesday night in front of 4,719 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' forward Nick Anderson netted his first professional hat trick in the victory. Las Vegas goalie Marc Magliarditit made 37 saves to push his record to 32-10-5 on the season. Todd Alexander, Dan Tudin, and Mike McBain also scored as the Wranglers improved to 24-3-3 at home this season. Rookie forward Chris Nieszner dished out three assists as Las Vegas finished the season series 3-4-0 against Alaska.

Bakersfield 2 at Las Vegas 5

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Bakersfield Condors 5-2 in front of 5,278 fans on Friday night at the Orleans Arena. Forwards Shawn Limpright and Sean O'Connor each scored a goal and added an assist in the win. Goalie Marc Magliarditi set a new career high for wins in one season, picking up his 33rd on 27 saves.

Alaska 5 at Las Vegas 1

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Utah Grizzlies 3-1 in front of 6,261 fans on Saturday night at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' goalie Mike McKenna made 27 saves for his fifth straight win. Forward Nick Anderson scored his eighth goal of the season and added an assist as Las Vegas improved to 26-3-3 at home. With the win, the Wranglers moved to first place in the West Division with 106 points and they became only the seventh team in ECHL history to win 50 games in one season.

Crampton Goes to Lowell, Pardy Returns from Omaha

Last Wednesday right wing Steve Crampton was recalled to the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters. It marked the second stint of the season in the AHL for Crampton, who started the year with the Norfolk Admirals. Crampton left Las Vegas as the team's fourth leading scorer with 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points in 50 games played. The 23-year old's 136 penalty minutes leads the Wranglers at the time of his departure. For his career, Crampton has 62 goals and 111 assists for 173 points in 247 games played. The rugged winger also has 458 career penalty minutes.

The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Saturday the return of defenseman Adam Pardy from Omaha. Pardy was called up to Omaha earlier in the week, and appeared in two games for the Knights without registering a point. Pardy has appeared in a total of 17 games with the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights during four different stints this season. He is still looking for his first AHL point. He has 12 penalty minutes in that time. In 39 games with the Wranglers, the native of Bonavista, Newfoundland has one goal and 11 assists for 12 points and 55 penalty minutes. Pardy was the Calgary Flames sixth pick, 173rd overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft.

This Week's Opponents-

Stockton Thunder - (15-38-12, 42 Points) - The Stockton Thunder are led by Joel Irwin with 23 goals and 42 assists for 65 points on the season, good for 11th overall in the ECHL scoring race. Rookie winger, and former Wrangler, Mike Lalonde is second in the ECHL in shots taken with 274 on the season. Lalonde is ranked 15th among all rookies in scoring this season with 27 goals and 20 assists for 47 points. Thunder forward Nick Greenough leads the ECHL in major penalties this season with 25. Stockton defenseman Geno Parrish is ranked seventh among scoring defensemen in the ECHL with seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points.

San Diego Gulls - (31-28-6, 68 Points) - The San Diego Gulls are led by 05-06 ECHL all-star Jesse Bennefield with 28 goals and 26 assists for 54 points on the season. The rookie winger, also won the ECHL's fastest skater competition at this years all-star skills competition. San Diego defenseman Grady Moore ranks 11th in the ECHL among scoring defenseman with 36 points.
