Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - After a 4-2 loss last night, the Las Vegas Wranglers came back to win 2-1 against the Alaska Aces, splitting the first two games in a three-game series.
A scoreless first period tonight saw seven shots from Alaska and six from Las Vegas. Just 35 seconds into the second period, Aces forward Jordan Kremyr tallied the first goal of the night for a 1-0 lead. Wranglers center Geoff Paukovich put the team on the board 67 seconds later, though, and tied it up 1-1. After two goals in two minutes, neither team scored for the remainder of the period.
Going into the third, Las Vegas had a 12-8 shot advantage over Alaska. Six minutes into the period, Wranglers left wing Josh Lunden notched a goal with 11 seconds left on the team's final power play of the night. Las Vegas held the 2-1 lead for the rest of the game, winning game two against Alaska and adding two more points to the team's second place ECHL standing.
The Wranglers and Aces finish the three-game series tomorrow night, with "Heroes Night" kicking off at 3:00 p.m. as Las Vegas police and firefighters take on FDNY in a charity Guns 'n' Hoses hockey game. The first 1,000 kids age 12 and under at the Wranglers game will receive a free superhero cape, and Spiderman will be on the Orleans Arena concourse for photos and autographs at 7:05 p.m. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
