Aces Beat Wranglers 4-2

Jordan Kremyr broke a 2-2 tie with his second straight key third period goal to help the Alaska Aces beat the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-2 from the Orleans Arena on Thursday night. The Aces snapped a season-long, four-game winless skid with the victory. The Aces improved to 32-9-6, on the season, and upped their lead in the Western Conference standings to ten points ahead of Las Vegas.. The Aces and Wranglers continue their three-game series on Friday and Saturday. They return to the Sullivan Arena on February 17. The teams exchanged goals within a half minute span on a Wranglers power play to open the scoring midway through the first period. Ethan Cox scored on a shorthanded breakaway at 9:15 to make it 1-0 Aces. However, on the next shift Las Vegas answered on the power play. Josh Lunden scored on a rebound at 9:44 to tie it 1-1. The Aces reclaimed the lead when Zach Harrison scored from the bottom of the crease on a redirection at 17:52 to give Alaska a 2-1 lead at first intermission. The Aces outshot the Wranglers 11-8 in the frame.

Las Vegas pulled even again early in the second period. Peter MacArthur deflected a shot from the left circle just under the crossbar to make it 2-2 just 2:55 into the middle frame. The goal stood as the only one of the period and the clubs went into the final period tied. Alaska outshot Las Vegas 10-9 in the period.

With the game on the line in the third period, Alaska controlled the tempo and outshot the Wranglers 11-5. At 9:34 Kremyr redirected a shot from the point from Kane Lafranchise to give the Aces a 3-2 lead. They never relinquished the advantage, killing off a late penalty, and Dan Kissel closed the game with an empty net goal at 18:42. The goal tied teammate Wes Goldie for 2nd in ECHL goal scoring with his 25th goal of the year.

Adam Courchaine (15-5-4) earned the win, making 20 saves on 22 shots. Joe Fallon (23-8-4) took the loss, stopping 28 of 31 shots against. The Aces power play went 0-2, while the Wranglers went 1-2. Alaska outshot Las Vegas 32-22 in the game.
