
WPIAL Finals Come to CONSOL Energy Park

Washington, PA- With the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, out of town, CONSOL Energy Park played host to another group of baseball games. The 2007 Baseball WPIAL Championships took place in the confines of CONSOL Energy Park on May 29th and 30th. Adults and student fans alike came from all across Western Pennsylvania to cheer on their favorite high school team.
Over the course of two days, the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) brought four championship games from four different divisions to the Wild Thing's home field.
This has been the fourth year that CONSOL Energy Park has hosted the WPIAL championships, dating back to 2004. In the four years of hosting the event, CONSOL has hosted over 13,000 fans. "We've been honored to host this event for several years," Manager Ross Vecchio. "It is a great opportunity for our organization and the community alike to showcase this facility during the tournament."
The games included teams from Peter's Township, Bethel Park, Blackhawk, as well as several others high schools from the area. The PIAA Quarterfinals will take place at CONSOL Energy Park this Thursday at 7 PM as Peter's Township faces Seneca Valley with the potential of another game after completion of the first round which has been pushed back due to weather.
