
Grizzlies Extend Streak To Nine Games

The Gateway Grizzlies (12-1) extended the second-longest win streak in franchise history to nine games Tuesday night with a 10-4 win over the River City Rascals (4-9) at GCS Ballpark.
After trailing 1-0, the Grizzlies scored three runs in the bottom of the second to go up 3-1. They never trailed again. Chris Gibson drove in a pair of runs in the second with a double high off the left field wall. Gibson paced the offense with a 4-4 night. He had four RBIs in the win.
Mike Breyman hit his second home run of the year in the third to extend the lead to 4-1, before the Gateway offense exploded for six runs in the fifth inning.
Jonathan Armitage hit a two-run shot to right to make it 6-1 Grizzlies. Breyman and Dustin Roberts each singled, before Gibson drove in the pair with a single to center. Manny Paula followed with his first home run of the year to make it 10-1. Paula finished the night 2-4 with three RBIs. Breyman was 3-5 with the homer. Armitage was 2-5 with the home run. Roberts was 2-4.
Toro Trevino (2-0) got the win for the Grizzlies. Trevino went 5.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out a career-high eight hitters. Jeremy Dow tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four. Noah Russo tossed the ninth, striking out two to close out the game.
The Grizzlies and Rascals continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday night at GCS Ballpark.
