
Workman Dominant In Portland's 1-0 Win

(Binghamton, N.Y.) - The Portland Sea Dogs (6-6) outlasted the Binghamton Mets (7-6) 1-0 in a pitchers duel at NYSEG stadium Wednesday night.
Brandon Workman (3-0) was dominant, tossing seven scoreless innings. Workman struck out nine, tying his season high. He gave up only four hits and walked no batters. He threw seventy pitches, forty-nine for strikes. Workman has struck out twenty-five batters in eighteen innings this season.
Despite taking the loss, Jacob DeGrom was nearly as good for the Mets. He threw eight innings of one run ball, the lone blemish coming on a Tony Thomas sacrifice fly. He gave up three hits, struck out eight, and walked only one batter.
DeGrom's eight innings pitched were a career high.
Chris Martin pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn his first save of the season. He worked out of a first and third jam with one out in the eighth.
Portland's lone run came in the fourth inning. Xander Bogaerts lead off with a double. He was moved over to third base on a Travis Shaw groundout and scored on a Tony Thomas sacrifice fly. Thomas now has an RBI in six straight games.

The Sea Dogs open up a seven-game homestand on Thursday night against the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins affiliate). Righty's Kyle Kaminska (0-1, 8.10) and Alex Meyer (0-0, 2.70) take the mound in a rematch of April 13th's pitching matchup at New Britain Stadium .
