New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - One night after homering and driving in three runs, Clint Robinson laced the go-ahead single in the top of the 11th inning to deliver the Fisher Cats (7-7) a 3-2 win over the New Britain Rock Cats (7-6) on Wednesday afternoon. Robinson's fifth RBI of the series erased the memories of a blown ninth-inning lead, and earned the Fisher Cats a win in the finale of their seven-game road trip.
New Hampshire carried a 1-0 lead for most of the game, taking the early advantage on a Kevin Pillar RBI single in the third inning. In the ninth, John Tolisano plated Robinson to give the Fisher Cats a 2-0 lead heading to the final frame.
In the bottom of the ninth, New Britain put together its only scoring threat of the game. With one out, the Rock Cats strung together three straight hits against Chad Beck to make it a 2-1 game. A sac fly followed to even the game at 2 and hand Beck a blown save.
New Britain tried to win the game in the tenth, putting a man at second base with two outs. Brad Glenn, however, changed their plans with a game-saving catch against the wall in right to send the game to the eleventh.
That's when New Hampshire put the game away. Ryan Schimpf began the inning with a single and then was balked to second base by losing pitcher Aaron Thompson (0-1). A groundout advanced Schimpf to third before Robinson stroked his winning hit to left field for a 3-2 lead.
Robinson finished the game 2-5 with a double and an RBI. He compiled seven hits in the series, knocking in five total runs over the three games.
Trystan Magnuson (1-0) earned the win in relief with 1.1 scoreless innings. Tommy Hottovy closed the door retiring the final two batters for his first save.
The Fisher Cats now return to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Thursday for a seven-home homestand with Binghamton and New Britain.
