Trenton, NJ - Jesus Aguilar cracked a pair of two-run singles Wednesday afternoon, leading the Akron Aeros to a 10-6 victory over the Trenton Thunder at Arm and Hammer Park.

The second of Aguilar's big hits came in the top of the ninth inning off Dannny Burawa (1-1), and snapped a 6-6 tie. With the bases loaded, Aguilar smoked a Burawa pitch back through the middle and into center field, scoring Tyler Holt and Jose Ramirez to make it 8-6.

Aguilar increased his season RBI total to 17, tops in the Eastern League. He finished 8-27 (.296) with nine RBI on the road trip. His overall average is up to .260.

The Aeros (5-8) took two of three from the first-place Thunder, winning the last two of the series. They finished 3-4 on the road trip. Akron opens up a seven-game homestand Thursday night against Bowie at 6:35.

After falling behind 2-0 when Trenton (8-5) scored a pair of unearned runs in the first inning, Akron came back with two runs in the third on Aguilar's first two-run single of the day. Quincy Latimore drove in a run by beating out a double-play relay in the fifth inning to make it 3-2.

Giovanny Urshela clubbed a two-run home run in the sixth and Holt launched a solo shot in the seventh to make it 6-2. For both players it was the first homer at the AA level. Holt was 4-4 on the day with a sacrifice bunt.

In fact, it was Holt who ignited the Aeros ninth with a lead-off single after the Thunder had tied it, 6-6, with a four-run rally in the seventh. Ramirez followed with a single and Latimore walked, bringing Aguilar to the plate with the bases loaded. Aguilar's single drove in two and sent Burawa to the showers. Kyle Bellows, who made his season debut Wednesday, added a two-run double against reliever Josh Romanski to make it 10-6.

Bryce Stowell (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief in the eighth. It wasn't without suspense, however, as he allowed a hit a walk, and hit a batter to load the bases before striking out Trenton's Kyle Higashioka. Stowell struck out three in the inning.

The Thunder stranded 13 on base in the game, including leaving the bases full in the fifth, sixth and eighth.

Lefty Matt Packer started and worked the first six innings, allowing just the two unearned runs in the first inning. He also had two walks and three strikeouts. He left with the Aeros on top 5-2, but settled with a no-decision.

Trenton came off the mat in the seventh to tie the game with a four-run rally against Akron righthander Rob Whitenack, who also made his season debut. Whitenack was activated on the Aeros roster just before game time.

The Aeros will return to Canal Park Thursday evening at 6:35 for the start of a four-game series with the Bowie Baysox. RHP Eddie Gamboa (0-0) will start for Bowie, and RHP Paolo Espino (0-0) will get the ball for the Aeros. The game will be carried live on Fox Sports 1350 AM, and online at www.sportsradio1350.com.
