
Worcester Bests Durham

Durham, NC - Bulls RF Grant Witherspoon went yard on a solo shot and 2B Miles Mastrobuoni had two hits, however Red Sox RF Devlin Granberg clubbed three hits and homered twice, as Worcester (54-50) topped Durham (56-48) 9-1 on Saturday afternoon at Polar Park.
The Red Sox opened the first frame with four runs, as DH Ronaldo Hernandez lined an RBI single, followed by an RBI double by 1B Triston Casas to extend the lead to 2-0. 2B Jose Peraza rounded out the inning with a two-run single. In the second, Granberg went the distance on a solo shot for the 5-0 lead. In the third, Witherspoon tattooed his third homer of the series for Durham to trim the deficit to four.
Worcester would get back on the board in the fourth as CF Abraham Almonte notched the team's second two-run single, and, in the fifth, Granberg launched his second solo bomb for the 8-1 lead. 2B Emmanuel Valdez later added a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Red Sox pitcher Geoff Hartlieb earned the win after 2.2 innings of work, allowing no hits and ringing up two strikeouts. Bulls pitcher Luis Patino suffered the loss.
The Bulls are set to conclude their six-game road trip on Sunday afternoon against the Worcester Red Sox, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 pm. RHP Cooper Criswell is expected to start for Durham while Worcester's starter has not been announced.
The Bulls return to the DBAP following their six-game road trip on Tuesday, August 9th to open a six-game homestand against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
