Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Rochester Red Wings dropped their 16th straight game on Saturday, losing 3-1 to the Columbus Clippers in game five of the series. Rochester is down 5-0 in the six-game series with one contest left.
RHP Franklyn Kilome toed the rubber for the Wings, surrendering six hits and three runs (two earned) through 5.2 innings of work.
Rochester got on the board first with an RBI single from 2B Jake Noll that scored SS C.J. Abrams to go up 1-0 in the first. They would not score again. Bo Naylor homered off Kilome in the bottom of the first to tie the game at one apiece. Kilome has given up a home run in his last three starts.
Columbus added a run in the third when Kilome committed a fielding error that allowed Gabriel Arias to reach home. They took a 3-1 lead in the sixth when Oscar Mercado crushed a homer to left center. It was Kilome's second allowed long ball of the day.
LHP Alberto Baldonado and LHP Matt Cronin both saw the mound, holding the Clippers hitless and scoreless through 2.1 combined innings.
Rochester's 16-game losing streak is the longest in franchise history, as The Wings find themselves in eighth place in the International League with a 47-57 record.
RHP Cade Cavalli will get the start on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. with a chance to avoid being swept by the Clippers.
