Louisville Bats News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Lorenzo Cedrola had four hits, two RBI and two runs scored in an 8-3 win for the Louisville Bats over the Indianapolis Indians Saturday night at Victory Field.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning, when Louisville mounted a two-out rally. With runners at first and second TJ Friedl singled into left field, scoring Mark Kolozsvary. Brendt Citta made a wild throw in from left field, allowing Lorenzo Cedrola to score on the play as well. Next up, Spencer Steer lined an RBI single of his own to extend the Bats' lead to 3-0.
In the bottom of the third, Hoy Park hit a two-run home run to bring the Indians back within one run. Those were the only runs Indianapolis scored against Louisville starter Justin Nicolino, who struck out eight over his six innings of work.
Louisville answered right back in the top of the fourth inning on Michael De Leon's solo home run, extending the advantage to 4-2.
After Nicolino exited the game, major league rehabber Art Warren took over and pitched a scoreless seventh inning, striking out one while allowing a single and a walk.
Indianapolis scratched across a run on Brendt Citta's RBI groundout in the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Bats broke the game open scoring four runs in the top of the ninth on a two-run double from Cedrola, an RBI double from Friedl and an RBI single from Steer.
Fernando Cruz pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning to secure the 8-3 win for Louisville.
The Bats and Indians will play the series finale Sunday afternoon at Victory Field. T.J. Zeuch (0-5, 7.34 ERA) will make the start for Louisville. Indianapolis has yet to name a starting pitcher. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET.
