WAUSAU, WI - J.D. Davis (Cal State Fullerton) struck out 10 Bombers over seven innings and only allowed one earned run, as the Wisconsin Woodchucks completed a three-game sweep of Battle Creek with a 4-2 victory.

Joe Battistelli (Eastern Michigan) was brilliant for the Bombers, as he went toe to toe with Davis all night long. The right-hander pitched seven innings, allowing just six hits and two earned runs, while striking out seven.

Wisconsin jumped ahead early. Skyler Ewing (Rice) took advantage of a rare Battistelli mistake, launching a solo homer to lead off the second and put the Woodchucks on the board. They would add an unearned run later in the inning and one more in the third for a 3-0 lead.

Battle Creek fought back with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings on sacrifice flies from Sikes Orvis (Ole Miss) and AJ Spanel (Doane College), but failed to score the rest of the game.

It remained 3-2 until the eighth, when Jake Peter (Creighton) went deep with a solo shot to right, giving the Woodchucks an insurance run. Jackson Lowery (Arkansas) struck out four over two shutout innings to earn the save.

The Bombers now move on to La Crosse for the first of two on Sunday night against the first half champion Loggers. Cole Swanson (San Diego State) will make his Bombers debut and start on the mound. First pitch is 6:05 ET.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
