Green Bay Rockers News Release

Will Landsheft blew his first save of the season on Friday night, and the Bullfrogs fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 7-6 in the middle game of a three game series.

The Bullfrogs struck early and often on Friday night. Green Bay took a 2-0 lead in the second inning against Rafter starter Cole Webb. Ransom LaLonde and Jason McMurray each came in to score on a Billy Moon RBI single. Moon had three RBIs on the night.

The Bullfrogs tacked on one more in the third inning on McMurray's RBI single. He plated Justin Seager to give Green Bay a 3-0 lead.

The lead was extended to 5-0 in the fourth inning. Alex Abrams led off the frame with a single and later scored on a single by Moon. Moon was driven home on a Clayton Eslick single later in the inning.

The Rafters rallied and tied the game up at 5-5 with a big fifth inning. After Austin Neary grounded out to begin the frame, five straight Rafters reached base and all of them scored. Alex Bacon, Jordan Dreiling, Brandon Downes, and Pat Kelly each had RBIs for Wisconsin Rapids in the frame. Aaron Gretz also scored on a wild pitch. All five runs were charged to Green Bay starting pitcher Harry Stanwyck.

The Bullfrogs re-took the lead in the sixth inning when reigning Northwoods League Player of the Night, Brooks Orton, singled home Alex Abrams to make the score 6-5.

The game remained that way until the ninth inning. After pitching a scoreless eighth, Green Bay closer Will Landsheft came out to complete a two-inning save. The inning was highlighted by a batter's interference call that led to two Rafters ejections.

With one out, after pinch-runner Sean Godfrey appeared to successfully steal second base, he was sent back to first due to a batter's interference call on Pat Kelly in the box. This made Kelly the second out of the ninth, and led to the ejections of both Kelly and Rafters manager Jake Martin.

Godfrey then successfully stole second base, Brandon Hohl walked, and then they were both driven in by Austin Neary's two-run, go-ahead double to make the score 7-6.

The Bullfrogs advanced Justin Seager to second base in the ninth, but failed to drive in and lost their first game of the second half of the season.

Stanwyck allowed five earned in four and two thirds innings on the mound for Green Bay. David Armendariz went two and one third scoreless out of the bullpen. The loss went to Landsheft (1-1), who allowed two earned runs in two innings of work.

The rubber match of the series is tomorrow at Joannes Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Join us at Joannes Stadium for Sudsy Saturday presented by Bud Light with 107.5 The Fan. Enjoy double bubble draft Bud Light beginning with the first pitch.
