The Bullfrogs fell to 1-2 on the second half of the Northwoods League season on Saturday night, dropping the final game of a three game set by a score of 5-3 to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at Joannes Stadium.
The Bullfrogs struck first in the first inning. Billy Moon and Jason McMurray both reached and later scored on RBIs from David Armendariz and Justin Seager, respectively. This gave the Bullfrogs a 2-0 lead.
The Rafters rallied and tied the game at 2-2 in the second inning. Brandon Hohl led off with a solo home run, and Colin Bray later singled home Josh Cyr with two outs.
The Rafters took a 5-2 lead in the third inning. With the bases full and two down, Josh Cyr's bases-clearing double plated Jordan Dreiling, Brandon Downes, and Austin Neary.
The Rafters threatened again in the sixth and seventh innings, but Mac Acker worked out of trouble and made it through two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Bullfrogs cut into the Rafters' lead in the eighth inning. An error by Jordan Dreiling at shortstop allowed David Armendariz to score, making it a 5-3 game. Dreiling had three errors on the night.
The loss went to Ben Graff (3-3). He allowed five runs, only two earned, in five innings of work. Mac Acker and Parker Schrage each pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the Bullfrogs.
Augie Bille (1-0) earned the win and Seth Fuller earned his fifth save of the season for the Rafters.
The Bullfrogs are now 1-2 in the second half of the Northwoods League season.
The Bullfrogs have a scheduled off day tomorrow and will return to action on Monday night at Joannes Stadium to take on the Madison Mallards in the first game of a two game series.
