Peoria, IL (December 5, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that third-year defenseman Stephen Wood and rookie right wing Ryan MacMurchy have been returned on loan to the team's ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces - 2006 ECHL Kelly Cup Champions. Both players are on two-way, AHL/ECHL contracts with the Rivermen and the Aces.

Wood, 25, has skated in eight games with the Rivermen this season. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of Sudbury, Massachusetts, has played five games for the Aces this year, posting two goals and 20 penalty minutes (PIM). He competed in 52 AHL games over his previous two seasons with the Philadelphia Phantoms, notching 13 points (2g, 11a) and collecting 36 penalty minutes (PIM).

MacMurchy, 23, recorded two assists with +1 plus/minus rating in his professional debut on October in the Aces' 5-3 home-opening win over the Victoria Salmon Kings.

MacMurchy completed a four-year, NCAA Division I career at University of Wisconsin this past spring, collecting 110 career points (44g, 66a) and 342 penalty minutes (PIM) in 162 games and was a member of the Badgers' 2006 NCAA Championship. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan, ranked second (28pts), third (33) and fifth (25) in points as sophomore, junior and senior, respectively. He became only the seventh Badger ever to surpass 100 points and 300 PIM, and he became the first University of Wisconsin player to hit the century mark in points since Dany Heatley left campus in 2001.

The Rivermen travel to Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Friday, December 8 to face off against the Moose in a two-game set at the MTS Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, December 10, the teams will battle at 2:00 p.m.
