Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves will host Chicago's Department of Animal Care and Control (ACC) Adopt-a-Dog program at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Oct. 12, when they face the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks at 7 p.m. The opening game marks the first of at least eight visits this season. Last season, the Wolves helped find homes for nearly 100 dogs through the program and are looking to double that number this season.

Fans interested in adopting a dog can visit ''Dally's Dog Pound'' named after Wolves defenseman Dallas Eakins, who is a team spokesman for the program in the East Lobby by the Customer Service Booth.

Dogs will be brought to each of the selected dates and will be available for adoption throughout the game. Prospective owners must go through a screening process and pay a $56.50 fee, which includes spaying or neutering, all vaccinations and a Chicago license for their new pet. People who do not live in Chicago will be charged a $54.50 fee, which does not include a pet license. Puppies less than three months old, which are too young for the rabies vaccination, can be adopted for a reduced rate.

The ACC's off-site adoption program, implemented less than two years ago, has placed more than 200 dogs. The Wolves became involved with this program through the team¹s Chairman of the Board/Governor Don Levin, who has adopted pets from similar programs, including ACC.

For more information, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or contact ACC at 312-747-1380.
