Thrashers Reassign Two to Greenville

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned goaltender MICHAEL GARNETT and defenseman PAUL FLACHE from the Chicago Wolves to the Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League.

GARNETT, Atlanta's second pick, 80th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, registered a .914 save percentage and a 3.97 goals-against average in two preseason games with Chicago.

Last season, the 19-year-old netminder tied for fourth in the Western Hockey League with a career-high 27 wins, posting a 27-34-4 record with the Saskatoon Blades, while recording a .897 save percentage and a 3.29 goals-against average in 67 WHL games.

GARNETT, who was listed as an emergency player for Chicago's 2002 Calder Cup Championship team, backed up Thrashers goaltender Milan Hnilicka on April 13 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

FLACHE notched six penalty minutes in two preseason games with the Wolves.

Last season, the Lakehurst, Ontario, native tallied career-highs with 35 assists, 44 points and 148 penalty minutes in 68 games with the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League. Overall, FLACHE recorded 18 goals; 51 assists; 69 points; and 307 penalty minutes in 190 games with Brampton (1999-2002).

The 20-year-old defenseman was selected by Atlanta in the fifth round, 144th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
