St. Croix signs AHL contract and assigned to Columbia; Ricci released from Moose roster

Today the Manitoba Moose announced that defenceman Chris St. Croix has signed a American Hockey League (AHL) contract with the Moose and has been assigned to the Columbia Inferno of the East Coast Hockey League. Defenceman Scott Ricci has been released from the Moose roster.

St. Croix has played in two AHL pre-season games with the Moose this season and registered six penalty minutes. He played all of the 2001-02 campaign with the Hartford Wolf Pack and had 10 assists in 73 regular season games. In the 2002 AHL Playoffs, St. Croix added one assist and 10 penalty minutes in 10 games.

The 23 year-old, who was born in New Jersey but grew up in Winnipeg, skated with the Saint John Flames from 1999-2001 and accumulated 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) with 117 PIM in 144 matches. The 6'3 defenceman was Team USA alternate captain during the 1999 World Junior Championships in Winnipeg.

St. Croix was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round, 92nd overall, during the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
