Wolves Take Bite out of IceDogs

The Sudbury Wolves paid a visit to the Niagara IceDogs Thursday evening where they took a 4-3 shoot-out victory over the home team to clinch their second win in a row.

The Wolves got on the board early in the first when CONOR CUMMINS scored his third goal of the season on a hard point-shot. REAGAN O'GRADY and DANNY DESROCHERS picked up the assists on the power play marker. The Wolves took their 1-0 lead over the IceDogs to the dressing room after the opening period of play.

The second period saw a flurry of goals from both sides. Newly acquire forward RYAN VALENTINI scored his first OHL goal on a hard accurate wrist shot to give the Wolves a 2-0 lead. The IceDogs then scored two quick fluky goals to tie things up at 2 goals apiece. Josh Ho-Sang and former Wolf Pavel Jenys were each award with a goal. The Wolves would not roll over as rookie MACAULEY CARSON scored on a DMITRY SOKOLOV rebound to give the Wolves back their lead, however, the lead would not last long as Niagara once again tied it up before the frame came to a close.

The third period saw a number of chances for both squads, however goaltenders TROY TIMPANO and Stephen Dhillon were up to the challenge as they shut their doors. A shoot-out was required as overtime solved nothing.

PATRICK MURPHY and RYAN VALENTINI scored in the shoot-out for the Wolves to clinch the victory for the Wolfpack. VALENTINI was named first star in the contest. The Wolves out-shot the IceDogs 43 to 41 in the contest.

The Wolves continue their road trip Friday night as they visit the number one team in the Canadian Hockey League, the Erie Otters at 7:00pm. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road by tuning into KFM 95.5 for the live play-by-play with Stew Kernan.
