IceDogs Drop 2-1 OT Heartbreaker in North Bay

The Niagara IceDogs lost a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker in North Bay on Friday night in their final game prior to the Christmas break.

The IceDogs got on the board first as Johnny Corneil would jam home a feed from Josh Ho-Sang on the powerplay to put the IceDogs up 1-0 after one. Shots after one were 13-7 North Bay.

The goalies were the story in the second, as the teams combined 16 more shots, but no goals as the IceDogs headed to the third up one. Shots through 40 continued to favour the home side 25-11.

Stephen Dhillon would continue his strong play throughout the third, maintaining the 1-0 lead for the IceDogs until he was finally be beaten with just 1:40 to go to tie things up at 1-1 and send the game to overtime. Shots at the end of regulation were 35-16 Battalion.

The teams would exchange chances throughout overtime and it looked like they would be headed to the shootout, until North Bay would capitalize on a powerplay with just four seconds left in overtime to take home the 2-1 win. Final shots were 40-20 North Bay.

The IceDogs will now break for Christmas before next returning home on New Year's Eve to host the Kitchener Rangers at 6pm. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing locations.
