'Wolves Swept by Aeros

The SeaWolves were swept at the hands of the Akron Aeros following a 3-2 loss at Canal Park on Thursday night.

The Aeros struck first in the bottom of the first inning against Erie starter Duane Below. Lonnie Chisenhall singled with one out. Jared Goedert then reached on an error by Audy Ciriaco giving the Aeros two on for Matt McBride. McBride doubled home Chisenhall, giving the Aeros a 1-0 lead. Beau Mills followed with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Goedert making it 2-0 Akron.

The ‘Wolves responded in the top of the second against Akron starter Scott Barnes. Michael Bertram led off with a single and stole second. With two outs, Barnes walked Cale Iorg bringing Andy Bouchie to the plate. Bouche doubled down the left field line, plating Bertram and Iorg, tying the game at 2-2.

The Aeros would regain the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Carlos Rivero doubled to centerfield. Cord Phelps followed and grounded a ball through the legs of Ciriaco at third. The second error by the Erie third baseman allowed Rivero to score, giving the Aeros a 3-2 edge.

The SeaWolves would never recover as the Akron bullpen tossed five shutout innings.

Below (2-5) was the tough luck loser going four innings, allowing three runs, only one earned, on three hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
