Chesapeake Baysox News Release
BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today a handful of activities to celebrate Father's Day at Prince George's Stadium Sunday, June 20, as the Baysox take on the Harrisburg Senators at 2:05 p.m. The events include the annual Father's Day Barbecue, pre-game catch on the field and a Meet The Team Day autograph session.
Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross is looking forward to having his son at the game. "Prince George's Stadium is a great place to spend a holiday with your family," Shallcross said. "Whether it is Father's Day or the Fourth of July, we work hard to put on a great show for our fans at a family-friendly price."
The barbecue features a two hour buffet in the Diamond View restaurant. The menu includes sliced barbecue beef, hot dogs, fried chicken, tossed garden salad, corn bread, chilled watermelon and soft drinks. Tickets for the barbecue are $27 for adults, $19 for kids ages six through 12 and $23 for season ticket holders. To reserve space, fans can contact Vince Riggs at (301) 464-4885 or vriggs@baysox.com by Monday, June 14.
"I think the menu is one of the best we've ever had for Father's Day," Riggs said. "We start serving the food at one p.m. so everyone has the chance to get autographs and go down on the field."
Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and fans can play catch on the field from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. Fans need to bring their own balls and gloves, no equipment will be provided. While fans are playing catch on the field, Baysox players and coaches are available to sign autographs on the concourse level of the stadium. Baysox Pitching Coach Kennie Steenstra and that day's starting pitcher and catcher will not be available for autographs.
