Reading, PA- Shawn Bowman drove in two runs with a first inning home run and added an RBI double in the third, but Reading used four home runs to beat the Fisher Cats 12-7 in Reading on Thursday afternoon.

Ty Taubenheim (1-1) worked 3.1 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win for the Phillies (22-30), who salvaged the final game of the three-game series with New Hampshire.

The Fisher Cats opened the scoring with two outs in the top of the first inning. After Eric Thames walked, Bowman drilled a two-run homer, his sixth, to make it 2-0.

The Fisher Cats (34-21) added another run with two outs in the top of the second inning against Reading starter Yohan Flande. Danny Perales, who hit two homers in his Eastern League debut on Wednesday night, smacked an 0-2 pitch to right center for a 3-0 lead.

Reading came back to take the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Tagg Bozied and Matt Rizzotti walked ahead of a Kevin Mahar homer to tie the game. The next hitter, Tuffy Gosewisch, followed with a solo homer to put the R-Phils up 4-3.

In the top of the third inning, Manny Mayorson walked and moved to second a balk. Eric Thames was hit by a pitch and Bowman doubled to tie the game. Adam Loewen grounded out as Thames scored to make it 5-4.

In the top of the fourth inning, Mayorson singled home Perales, who had reached on a hit-by-pitch, moved to second on a single by Luis Sanchez (3-for-4) and took third on a fielders choice by Callix Crabbe. The Phillies tied the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Matt Rizzotti led off with his fifth home run. Tuffy Gosewisch doubled and scored on a single by Freddy Galvis. Reading moved in front in the bottom of the fifth inning against New Hampshire starter and loser Chuck Huggins (0-2). Michael Spidale beat out a bunt, Domonic Brown (3-for-5, 2 RBI) singled and Tagg Bozied drilled a 3-2 pitch for a homer to make it 9-6.

New Hampshire scored its final run in the top of the eighth on David Cooper's seventh home run.

Reading scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull away at 12-7. Quintin Berry drew a bases loaded walk and Brown doubled in two runs.

Sergio Escalona pitched the final two innings for Reading, allowing only the Cooper home run, and earned his sixth save.

Boomer Potts tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the Fisher Cats, allowing one hit and striking out three.

New Hampshire welcomes the Altoona Curve to Merchantsauto.com Stadium this weekend, with two Atlas Fireworks Shows scheduled for Friday, June 4 (7:05pm) and Saturday, June 5 (7:05pm).
