Erie SeaWolves News Release
ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look to avoid their fourth sweep of the season as they play the final game of a three-game series against the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians) at Canal Park. Last night, a fifth inning grand slam by Lonnie Chisenhall put the Aeros ahead 5-1 and they would go on to win by that score. The loss dropped the SeaWolves to three-games under .500. It's the most games under .500 since the club was 7-10 on April 25. Aeros pitchers have limited the âWolves to just four runs on eight hits in the first two games of the series...Since overtaking first place in the Western Division on May 19, the SeaWolves have lost 12 of their last 14 games and sit in fifth place in the division, 10 games behind first place Altoona and three games behind second place Bowie...Tonight, the âWolves send lefty Duane Below to the mound making his 11th start and second against the Aeros. It is Below's first trip to Canal Park since suffering a season-ending elbow injury on May 24, 2009 in a win over the Aeros. He took a no-decision in his last start against Harrisburg going five innings, allowing a run on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Below left the game with a 2-1 lead, however, the bullpen could not hold on as the âWolves lost 5-2 in 13 innings...Lefty Scott Barnes takes the mound for Akron. Barnes is making his 10th start and second against Erie. The âWolves beat Barnes on May 12 as he allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts in four innings of work.
