Andy Dirks singled with one out and Wilkin Ramirez put the âWolves on the board with his league-leading 15th home run. The two-run blast over the wall in left gave the SeaWolves a 2-0 lead.
Akron responded for a run in the bottom of the first. Tim Fedroff led off with a walk against Erie starter Brooks Brown. With two outs, Matt McBride tripled off the wall in left, scoring Fedroff, making it a 2-1 game.
The âWolves went back ahead by two in the top of the third inning. With two outs, Dirks reached on an infield single, Ramirez walked and Cesar Nicolas was hit by a pitch loading the bases for Michael Bertram. Bertram drew a bases loaded walk, plating Dirks for a 3-1 lead.
Akron would strike back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Carlos Rivero led off with a walk and moved into scoring position on a single by Cord Phelps. Jerad Head singled home Rivero to make it 3-2 in favor of the âWolves.
