
'Wolves Blast Baysox 9-2

Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves begun their final series of the 2011 season on Friday night at Prince George's Stadium and took down the wild card leading Bowie Baysox 9-2.
The SeaWolves struck first against Bowie starter Zach Clark in the top of the first inning. William Bergolla doubled with one out and scored on a Bryan Pounds two-out single for a 1-0 lead.
Erie added to its lead in the third. Jamie Johnson led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a Bergolla groundout. Brandon Douglas singled home Johnson for a 2-0 lead.
The 'Wolves tacked on runs in the top of the fifth. Michael Rockett singled, Johnson doubled and Bergolla walked loading the bases for Douglas. Douglas, Pounds and Rawley Bishop all followed with bases-loaded walks putting the 'Wolves ahead 5-0. Deik Scram and Bryan Holaday followed with back-to-back sacrifice flies, plating a pair for a 7-0 lead.
Bowie got on the board in the last of the seventh against Erie reliever Zach Samuels. With one out, Brandon Waring singled and moved to third on a wild pitched and passed ball. Waring scored on a Caleb Joseph making it 7-1. Joseph scored on a Pedro Florimon base knock making it 7-2.
The 'Wolves got both runs right back in the top of the eighth against reliever Bobby Bundy. Holaday and John Murrian led off with back-to-back singles. Johnson singled home Holaday with his fourth hit of the night and ended up on second following a throw to the plate. Bergolla grounded out, plating Murrian making it 9-2 Erie.
Brown (3-9) tossed six scoreless frames allowing four hits with a walk and five strikeouts. He finished the game retiring 10 hitters he faced. Brown also has not allowed a run in his last 13 innings pitched. The win for Brown was his first since July 17.
The win snapped a five-game losing streak by the 'Wolves and it improved their record against the Baysox to 10-8.
The 'Wolves continue a four-game series at Prince George's Stadium on Saturday night...6:35 First Pitch. Lefty Casey Crosby (8-7, 4.30 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Eddie Gamboa (2-5, 3.38 ERA).
