Akron Cruises Past the Senators 7-1

On Friday night at Metro Bank Park the Akron Aeros used one big inning to take control against the Senators in a 7-1 win. One night after the Senators scored ten runs, they only managed four hits and didn't score until the bottom of the ninth inning.

Shairon Martis started and took the loss, lasting five innings and allowing five runs. It was his first start since throwing a no-hitter last Friday night in New Hampshire. Jimmy Barthmaier tossed three innings allowing three hits on two runs. Pat Lehman pitched the final inning in relief.

Akron had a 1-0 lead into the fifth inning when they scored four runs on five hits to break the game open. Akron had five different players have two hits in the game.

Rob Bryson picked up the win in relief for Akron pitching two scoreless innings in moving to 2-0 on the season.

Josh Johnson, Chris Rahl, Leonard Davis and Chris McConnell had the only hits for Harrisburg while Stephen King drove in the only run with an rbi ground out.

Harrisburg falls to 79-60 while Akron improves to 71-68.

Game two of the four game series is Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with RH Tanner Roark on the hill for the Senators. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
