Sudbury Wolves News Release
The Sudbury Wolves played host to the Eastern Conference leading Oshawa Generals on a Sudbury Saturday Night! The Oshawa Generals proved why they are ranked the #1 team in the country as they dominated the game and ran away with a 6-0 victory over the Wolves.
The Wolves came out with fight holding the Generals to only one goal in the first period. New York Islanders prospect MICHAEL DAL COLLE opened the scoring for the Generals six minutes into the frame. The Wolves played a clean first period staying out of the penalty box. Shots on goal at the end of the period were 16-8 for the Generals.
Special teams proved to be the Wolves kryptonite as penalty trouble led to two of the Generals goals in the second period. MICHAEL MCCARRON and COLE CASSELS both capitalized on the power play. Despite the Wolves energy and fight they could not contain the powerful Generals. HUNTER SMITH added one more at the end of the frame to give Oshawa the 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.
The Generals continued to dominate the game in the third period with goals from newcomers DAKOTA MERMIS and BRENT PEDERSEN who were acquired by the Generals earlier this week. The final score was 6-0 for the Generals with shots on goal 51-20 in favour of the visiting team.
The Wolves will hit the road Sunday to wrap up their 3-in-3 schedule with a stop in North Bay at 2:00pm. Fans can listen to the live play-by-play on KFM 95.5 with Stew Kernan and Mike Poirier or watch live on Eastlink Community Channel 10.
