March 17, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Hartford Wolf Pack News Release

The Wolf Pack (26-29-1-6, 59 pts.) collected three out of a possible six points in a three-game weekend this past week. The Pack defeated the Adirondack Phantoms 2-1 in a shootout Friday night at the XL Center, with Danny Syvret tying the game with a power-play goal at 16:16 of the third period and Danny Kristo scoring the only goal of the shootout. Hartford was held off the scoreboard, though, in Albany on Saturday, blanked by Scott Wedgewood in a 2-0 loss. The Wolf Pack then recovered from an early 2-0 deficit in Providence on Sunday, deadlocking the score at two with a goal at 19:06 of the third period by Jesper Fast, but lost 3-2 to the Bruins in overtime.

The Wolf Pack are on home ice this Wednesday night, hosting the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a 7:00 PM game, and then the St. John's IceCaps visit on Friday at 7:00. The Pack then travel to Glens Falls for a 7:00 date with Adirondack on Saturday night.

Wednesday, March 19 vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the XL Center, 7:00 PM

- This is the last "Winning Wednesday" home game of the season. If the Wolf Pack win, each fan can get a free ticket to the Pack's next home game, Friday night vs. St. John's (some restrictions apply, check the Wolf Pack's official website, www.hartfordwolfpack.com, for full details).

- The Sound Tigers (27-29-2-4, 60 pts.) snapped an 0-5-1-0 drought Sunday with a 5-4 home win over Adirondack. That win moved Bridgeport one point ahead of the Wolf Pack for third place in the Northeast Division and 11th place in the Eastern Conference.

- This is the ninth installment of this year's battle of Connecticut, and the Wolf Pack have lost the last three meetings, falling to 3-5-0-0 in the season series. Bridgeport has won two of its three previous visits to the XL Center this season.

- Goaltender Kevin Poulin, who had spent the entire season in the NHL with the parent New York Islanders, was assigned to Bridgeport March 1 and has started six out of seven games since then (1-5-0, 2.99, 90.7).

Friday, March 21 vs. the St. John's IceCaps at the XL Center, 7:00 PM

- At this and all Friday-night Wolf Pack home games this year, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers at the XL Center through the start of the second period, presented by Marc's Appliance Warehouse, located at 75 Prospect Ave., Hartford, CT.

- Hartford Courant sportswriter Paul Doyle is scheduled to join Bob "Hawk" Crawford, the play-by-play voice of the Wolf Pack, for "Hawk's Nest" in the XL Center's Comcast Coliseum Club from 6:00-6:20 PM. Questions and comments will be welcomed from the patrons enjoying the Comcast Coliseum Club's wide array of dining and beverage options. The Comcast Coliseum Club restaurant and bar area is open two hours prior to every Wolf Pack home game, to everyone holding a ticket to the game.

- The IceCaps are 10-1-0-1 in their last 12 games, and 18-4-0-1 in 23 outings since January 20, and have climbed to 18 games above .500, at 38-20-1-3 for 80 points. St. John's currently stands fourth in the Eastern Conference, and trails league-leading Manchester by eight points for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.

- IceCap leading scorer Kael Mouillierat (18-31-49 in 56 GP) scored a hat trick, and added an assist, in St. John's' only previous meeting with the Wolf Pack this year, a 6-2 IceCap victory January 25 at the XL Center.

- St. John's is 5-0-0-0 all-time in Hartford in the three-year history of the IceCap franchise.

- This is the last of ten meetings on the year between the Wolf Pack and the Phantoms, and the Pack will be looking for their sixth consecutive victory in the series. Hartford is 7-1-0-1 thus far against Adirondack, 3-1-0-0 in Glens Falls.

- The Phantoms are 0-5-0-1 in their last six games and 24-32-1-4 (53 pts.) on the year. They trail the field in the Eastern Conference and Northeast Division, six points behind the third-place Wolf Pack in the Northeast.

- Derek Whitmore, who was loaned to the Phantoms by the Hershey Bears on Wednesday, scored his first two goals in an Adirondack uniform in Sunday's 5-4 loss at Bridgeport.
