Hartford Wolf Pack News Release


The Wolf Pack (6-2-0-1, 13 pts.) climbed back into sole possession of first place in the Northeast Division Saturday, with a 4-3, come-from-behind win at Hershey, snapping Hartford's first losing streak of the season. Prior to Saturday's win, the Pack had dropped regulation decisions at home to Portland Wednesday (4-2) and at Albany Friday (4-3). Scott Stajcer rang up his first career AHL in net Saturday, with 20 saves, and veteran defensemen Danny Syvret (0-5-5) and Aaron Johnson (2-2-4) led the way offensively during the week.

This week:

The Wolf Pack have another Wednesday night home date this week, taking on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00 PM, and that is another "Winning Wednesday". If the Wolf Pack win, each fan gets a free ticket to the Wolf Pack's next home game, which is Friday, November 8 against the Providence Bruins. The Pack then gets its first look at I-91 rival Springfield, with back-to-back road games vs. the Falcons Friday and Saturday nights. Both of those contests face off at 7:00.

Wednesday, October 30 vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the XL Center, 7:00 p.m.

- This is the second Wolf Pack "Winning Wednesday" of the season. At all Wednesday night home games, if the Wolf Pack win, each fan receives a free ticket to the Pack's next home game (some restrictions apply, check the Wolf Pack's official website, www.hartfordwolfpack.com, for full details).

- The Wolf Pack will be celebrating "Howl-o-Ween" at this game. Fans are invited to come to the game in costume, for various prizes and contests, and actors, in full costume, from Lake Compounce's "Haunted Graveyard" will be meeting and greeting fans before the game.

- Tonight begins a 12-game season series between the Wolf Pack and their Nutmeg State rivals the Sound Tigers. Last year the Whale went 5-4-1-0 in a ten-game season series with Bridgeport, 2-2-1-0 at home.

- The Sound Tigers are off to a 1-4-1-0 start, for three points, in 2013-14. Their only game this past week was a 5-0 shutout loss at Syracuse on Saturday.

- Ryan Strome, the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft by the parent New York Islanders, leads Bridgeport in scoring thus far, with 1-5-6 in six games.

- The Wolf Pack will be collecting donations from fans of used hockey equipment at this game, for use by the participants in a Hartford Police Athletic League program to offer underprivileged youth the opportunity to try ice hockey. Any patron who brings a donation of good used hockey gear will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a future Wolf Pack game at the XL Center. The Police Athletic League will then be conducting hockey clinics on the XL Center ice on multiple dates later in the fall and winter.

Friday, November 1 at the Springfield Falcons (MassMutual Center), 7:00 p.m.

- The Falcons suffered a shootout loss (4-3 at Providence Friday) and a regulation loss (3-1 at home to Worcester Saturday) this past weekend, after opening the season with five straight wins. At 5-1-0-1 for 11 points, Springfield trails the Wolf Pack by two points in the Northeast Division.

- This is the first of 12 meetings on the season between the Wolf Pack and Falcons, Hartford's most familiar rival. In 12 games against Springfield last year, the Whale was 5-7-0-0, and the Falcons won four of the six games that the two teams played in Springfield.

- Former Connecticut Whale defenseman Tim Erixon leads the Falcons in points and assists, with 2-7-9 in six games, good for a tie for fourth in the AHL in points and assists among blueliners.

- The Falcons, who were 24-10-1-3 on home ice last year, are 2-1-0-0 at the MassMutual Center thus far in 2013-14. The Wolf Pack have opened 3-1-0-0 on the road.

Pack Tracks:

At every Friday-night Wolf Pack home game this season, Bob Crawford, the play-by-play voice of the Wolf Pack, will be on hand in the XL Center's Comcast Coliseum Club from 6:00-6:20 PM for "Hawk's Nest", which will feature live conversations with a host of different Wolf Pack-themed guests, who will take questions from the patrons enjoying the Comcast Coliseum Club's wide array of dining and beverage options. The Comcast Coliseum Club restaurant and bar area is open two hours prior to every Wolf Pack home game, to everyone holding a ticket to the game.

Every Friday night Wolf Pack home game will also feature $1 hot dogs and $2 beers, through the start of the second period. The Pack's next Friday-night date is November 8, when the Providence Bruins come to town for a 7:00 PM game.

The Wolf Pack's 11th annual Bowl-a-Thon to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut is coming up Sunday, November 17 at Hall of Fame Silver Lanes in East Hartford. Fans can bowl with their favorite Wolf Pack players for a great cause, but space is limited, so register on-line now at www.soct.org.

At every Wolf Pack Sunday home game in 2013-14, fans can take advantage of the Wolf Pack's "Click It or Ticket Sunday Family Value Packs". Those include two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas, starting at only $35. The next Sunday home date is December 8, when the Pack host the Springfield Falcons at 3:00 PM.
