The Wolf Pack open the 17th season of AHL play at the XL Center this weekend, with back-to-back home games Saturday vs. the Norfolk Admirals and Sunday against the Albany Devils, after registering a 1-2-0-1 record in four preseason outings The Wolf Pack kicked off the preseason with a 5-2 win Wednesday over the Worcester Sharks at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell, CT. The next night saw Hartford drop a 4-3 shootout decision to the Devils at the XL Center, before the Pack lost 7-0 at Springfield Friday, in the Wolf Pack's lone road exhibition contest. Ken Gernander's team finished the preseason with a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Falcons Sunday at the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury.
This week:
The Pack raises the curtain on its 2013-14 regular this Saturday, October 5, welcoming the Norfolk Admirals to the XL Center for a 7:00 PM opening-night game. The first 5,000 fans into the game will receive a free Wolf Pack magnetic schedule, courtesy of Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, and the Wolf Pack are right back on home ice on Sunday at 3:00, hosting the Albany Devils. Sunday's game is the first chance for fans to take advantage of the Wolf Pack's "Click It or Ticket Family Value Sundays" discount, which offers a package of two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas, starting at only $35.
Saturday, October 5 vs. Norfolk Admirals (XL Center), 7:00 p.m.
- In celebration of opening night and the return of the Wolf Pack, the first 5,000 fans through the doors for this game will take home a free Wolf Pack magnetic schedule, sponsored by Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
- Also at the home opener, one lucky fan will win a new refrigerator, which will be autographed by the team, courtesy of Marc's Appliance Warehouse.
- This game will also feature a special appearance by sports entertainer Cameron Hughes.
- This is the first of four meetings on the year between the Wolf Pack and the Admirals, who are the top affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. The Whale were 2-1-1-0 in four games against the Admirals last season and won both matchups at the XL Center.
- Head Coach Trent Yawney is back this year for a seventh season behind the Admirals' bench, but Mike Haviland, who was Yawney's associate coach last season, has moved on to become head coach of the Hershey Bears.
- Norfolk finished last year 37-34-4-1 for 79 points, fifth in the East Division and tenth in the Eastern Conference.

Sunday, October 6 vs. Albany Devils (XL Center), 3:00 p.m.
- At this game, and all Wolf Pack Sunday home games, fans can purchase "Click It or Ticket Family Value Sunday" packs, which include two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas, starting at only $35.
- This is the Wolf Pack's first divisional game of the season, against an Albany club that finished four points behind the Whale in the Northeast Division a year ago, at 31-32-1-12 for 75 points.
- Albany's leading scorer in 2012-13 was former Boston College Eagle Joe Whitney, who amassed 26-25-51 and a +13 in 66 games.
- The Wolf Pack and Devils will meet eight times this season, after a six-game season series last year in which the Whale was 2-3-0-1, and 0-2-0-1 on home ice.

Once again this season, every Friday night Wolf Pack home game will feature $1 hot dogs and $2 beers, through the start of the second period. The first Friday-night home game is next Friday, October 11, when the Wolf Pack host the Adirondack Phantoms in a 7:00 PM game.
Brand new for the 2013-14 season are Wolf Pack "Winning Wednesdays". At all Wednesday night home games, if the Wolf Pack win, each fan receives a free ticket to the Pack's next home game (some restrictions apply, check the Wolf Pack's official website, www.hartfordwolfpack.com, for full details). The Wolf Pack's first Wednesday-night home date is October 23, when the Portland Pirates invade the XL Center for a 7:00 game.
