With a Baker's Dozen 13 Hits, 'Dogs Beat the Ponies 8-2

Portland, Maine - Mike Shawaryn allowed just two runs on three hits over seven innings as the Sea Dogs (30-49) defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (38-41) 8-2 in front of 6,095 fans on Saturday night at Hadlock Field.

Shawaryn (W, 4-6) matched a season-high with seven innings pitched as well as a season-low three hits allowed. The Maryland product walked three and struck out two.

Portland jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to an RBI double by Josh Ockimey in the first and a two-run homer by Luke Tendler in the third off of Binghamton starter Scott Copeland (L, 5-3).

Everyone in the Sea Dogs' lineup had at least one hit. Tendler finished 2-for-4 with a home run, double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Ockimey went 1-for-4 with a double, 2 RBIs, a walk and a run scored. Jeremy Rivera also had two hits and two RBIs.

Copeland allowed five runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings. The righty walked two and fanned two.

Matthew Gorst closed the door with two hitless innings to finish the ballgame.

The Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate) continue their five-game series on Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 PM first pitch at Hadlock Field. All-Star lefty Kyle Hart (5-5, 3.72) takes on Right-hander Marcos Molina (1-9, 7.01).
