NEWS AND NOTES

SATURDAY IN THE PARK: The Portland Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate) meet for the 12th time this season on Saturday night at Hadlock Field...Portland has dropped three straight and seven of their last 10 games...Binghamton has won three of their last five, and seven of 11 from the 'Dogs this season...Following this series, the Sea Dogs play a five-game series in Hartford before the Eastern League All-Star break.

RUNS WERE EARLY: Portland scored two unearned runs in the first inning but Binghamton scored the next three runs, defeating the 'Dogs, 3-2 on Friday night in the series opener...Ponies righty Mickey Jannis (5-2) tossed seven innings on six hits and two unearned runs to earn the win...Teddy Stankiewicz (5-7) took the loss, giving up three runs (two earned) over six innings...Luke Tendler and Jantzen Witte had RBI singles in the first inning.
