Reading Fightin Phils News Release

(Reading, PA) - The Fightin Phils dropped game 2 against the Hartford Yard Goats 4-3. Harold Arauz, who was looking for his second win (of the nine game home stand), pitched five innings giving up seven hits, three runs (all earned) and one walk while striking out five.

Evan Grills made his fifth AA start and it was arguably his best. He went six innings allowing four hits and only one run while striking out five batters, however he did not get a decision. Hartford got single runs in the top of the second inning, fifth and sixth innings. All RBIs were singles and came courtesy of Omar Carrizales, Brendan Rodgers and Ryan Metzler.

The Fightin Phils were down early before Eastern League All-Star Jan Hernandez hit a 353-foot solo home run. The Fightins tied it up again in the bottom of the seventh off new pitcher Scott Griggs when Zach Green and Deivi Grullon hit back-to-back singles and advanced on a wild pitch. Green scored on an RBI groundout by Cornelius Randolph and Deivi Grullon scored on a Malquin Canelo RBI single.

Forrest Wall gave the Goats the lead for good in the top of the ninth inning when he hit a solo home run off of Alexis Rivero into the pool. Matt Pierpont shut the door on a Fightin Phils rally and collected his league leading 22nd save. The Fightin Phils continue their longest home stand of the year tomorrow with Sandlot tribute night at 5:15.
