
Wisconsin Sweeps DH from Kernels, 6-4 and 2-0

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers swept a doubleheader from the Kernels on Friday night, winning by scores of 6-4 and 2-0.
Game 1: Wisconsin 6 Kernels 4
In game one Kernels starter Cam Bedrosian was matched up against Brewers starter Shaun Marcum, making a rehab start while coming off an elbow injury. The Rattlers jumped on Bedrosian in the 1st inning, sending 10 hitters to the plate while taking a 5-0 lead. Chadwin Stang's 2-RBI triple to right center scored Chadwin Stang and Brandon Macias. Nick Ramirez followed with a RBI single to score that plated McMahan. Ramirez came home on a RBI single by Carlos George. Then, a RBI sacrifice fly by Adrian Williams scored Yadiel Rivera.
Shaun Marcum threw 36 pitches and was limited to 3 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit. Frazier Hall homered off the Brewers righty in the 2nd inning, cutting the Rattlers lead to 5-1. Hall's blast was his 12th of the season and went to deep right field.
In the 3rd inning Brandon Macias tripled to right field, plating Max Walla to extend the Wisconsin lead to 6-1. Bedrosian (3-9) took the loss in 5 innings of work. He allowed 6 runs on 8 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. Nick Mutz pitched a 1-2-3 inning in relief.
The Kernels rallied for 3 runs in the 6th inning, trimming the Rattlers lead to 6-4. An infield single by Eric Stamets scored Drew Martinez, and Andy Workman's 2-RBI single to right field brought Stamets and Alex Yarbrough home.
Kevin Shackelford (3-4) picked up the win in 2.1 innings of relief for Wisconsin. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits while walking 2. Stosh Wawrzasek recorded his 3rd save, pitching 1.2 scoreless and hitless innings, while striking out 1 and walking 2.
Game 2: Wisconsin 2 Kernels 0
In game two Kernels starter Austin Wood and Rattlers starter Mark Williams went toe to toe with Wisconsin getting 2 runs in the 5th inning to win 2-0.
Austin Wood (5-11) held Wisconsin without a hit until the 5th inning, but in the inning the Rattlers plated 2 runs on 4 hits. Greg Hopkins picked up the 1st hit with 1 out in the 5th inning. Then, Mike Garza and Yadiel Rivera followed with singles. Rivera's single plated Hopkins, making the score 1-0. Garza later scored on Max Walla's RBI single, pushing the score to 2-0.
Mark Williams (6-9) went the distance for the Rattlers, pitching 7 innings and allowing 0 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 11 and walked 1. Logan Odom pitched 1 scoreless inning in relief for the Kernels, allowing 1 hit while striking out 1.
Offensively, the Kernels had runners on base in all but 1 inning.
