Winterhawks Fall 3-1 to Victoria Saturday

The Portland Winterhawks (26-25-2-0) fell 3-1 the Victoria Royals (34-15-2-3) Saturday at the Moda Center in front of 9,096 fans.

The Hawks opened the scoring 8:49 into the first when Cody Glass wired a shot from the right faceoff circle over the shoulder of Victoria netminder Griffen Outhouse for a 1-0 lead Portland took into the second period.

After a scoreless second, Victoria tied the game at 5:43 of the third on a deflection in front of the Portland net by Alex Forsberg to make it 1-1. Victoria took their first lead at 8:09 when Ryan Peckford scored to give the Royals a 2-1 lead.

Victoria added a goal by Vladimir Bobylev at 13:16 to take a 3-1 lead that stood as the final.

Adin Hill made 37 saves Saturday, while Outhouse finished with 27 saves on 28 Portland shots.

The Hawks will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Spokane to take on the Chiefs.
