Brandon, MB. -The Brandon Wheat Kings built up a 5-0 second period lead and cruised to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday night at Westman Communications Group Place.

Nolan Patrick scored twice and Tim McGauley added a goal and two helpers as the Wheat Kings scored three unanswered in the first and two more in the second and they were on their way.

With the win the Wheat Kings moved to within two points of the Eastern Conference leading Lethbridge Hurricanes, who dropped a 2-0 decision to the Ice in Cranbrook.

As for the Eastern Division, Brandon is now 34-15-2-2 on the season and sit eight points up on the second place Prince Albert Raiders.

Duncan Campbell, John Quenneville and Ivan Provorov rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who host the Raiders on Tuesday night.

Chad Butcher and Matthew Bradley scored in a losing cause for the Tigers, who were outshot 43-28.

Rookie goalkeeper Logan Thompson made 26 saves in improving his personal record to 12-1-0 on the season.

Tuesday's game against Prince Albert is the final "2 for Tuesday" of the season, which means fans will receive a free ticket to this game when they purchase another at regular admission price. As well, the Keystone Centre will be offering special concession discounts.
