Spacek with the Winner; Rebels Edge Moose Jaw 4-3 in OT

The Rebels and Moose Jaw Warriors met for the final time this season with the Rebels looking for a sweep of their four-game season series.

FIRST PERIOD

The Rebels and Warriors went more than six minutes without a whistle to start this game as they got their bearings. They traded a few chances back and forth before things heated up late in the period. However, neither side was able to break through and the first period ended scoreless.

SECOND PERIOD

The Rebels broke the ice just past the midway point of the middle frame. Zach Sawchenko fumbled a Haydn Fleury wrist shot, Adam Musil was right there to cash in the rebound for his 16th goal of the year. Jake DeBrusk also assisted on the 1-0 Rebels goal.

The WHL's reigning player of the month then struck twice to give Moose Jaw the lead. Dryden Hunt scored his 33rd goal of the year on a powerplay and his 34th even strength less than four minutes apart.

Red Deer replied to tie the game 2-2 at 17:14 as Jake DeBrusk found a rebound and found the back of the net for his 17th goal of the year. Adam Helewka fired the original shot on net and picked up the first assist, Musil got the second. The Rebels and Warriors went to the second intermission tied 2-2.

THIRD PERIOD

The Rebels pounced on yet another rebound for their third goal of the night. This time Michael Spacek fought of two Warriors defenders to lift home his 14th goal. Colton Bobyk and Kayle Doetzel picked up the assists on the 3-2 Rebels goal.

However, the Rebels took a penalty soon after and just 1:08 after the Rebels took the lead, Hunt blasted home his hat trick goal to tie it 3-3. The goal came with exactly give minutes to go in the third period, setting the table for overtime.

OVERTIME

After the Warriors narrowly missed on a chance to score the game winner, Grayson Pawlencuk sprung Michael Spacek on a breakaway, he deked out Sawchenko for the game winner. The Rebels won a thriller over the Warriors, 4-3.
